Client case: BEECKK Ruimtemakers
Interview with Jorn van der Werf
BEECKK Ruimtemakers has been in existence for 18 years and specialises in complex spatial projects. Jorn van der Werf is one of the driving forces behind the company: an enterprising process manager who gets projects off the ground, sets the pace and gets stuck processes moving again. He is seen as results-oriented, positive and constructive. ‘A go-getter, not a pushy person.’ For him, humour, simplicity and enjoyment of work are crucial ingredients for making real progress in complex projects.
BEECKK works for municipalities, provinces, central government and market parties. They ensure that everything is arranged before a single pile is driven into the ground: research, planning, participation, legal hurdles, interaction with the environment. In an increasingly scarce space and a stricter legal climate.
They consciously work in an unconventional way: lots of freedom, lots of responsibility, duos that always work together. A traditional field of work, but with a modern, human approach.
“For us, it’s all about quality, not about clocking hours. LXA works the same way.”
1. Warm-hearted – building trust
Jorn recognises this immediately. BEECKK remains loyal to parties that are reliable and deliver quality. He sees this reflected in LXA. Contact is quick and smooth. They call back immediately, are sharp in their communication and at the same time warm and accessible. It never feels formal and distant, but rather involved and equal.
For him, it is valuable that LXA applies the same principle as BEECKK: quality over hours. Jorn says it himself: ‘I sell quality, not people or hours. I completely recognise that in LXA.’ Trust is therefore not something that has to grow, but something that arises immediately.
2. Entrepreneurial – pragmatic and understandable
BEECKK seeks partners who can navigate the complexity of spatial processes. Jorn finds that LXA does exactly that. They think ahead, assess risks and translate complex issues into workable steps. Whether it concerns labour law, contracts with market parties, cooperation agreements, shareholder matters or supervising a closing, he sees a team that operates quickly, pragmatically and with strong substantive expertise.
What he appreciates is that LXA looks beyond the letter of the assignment. They even check the work of the solicitor if necessary, simply because otherwise it would not be properly arranged. That type of ownership appeals to him.
BEECKK is experimenting with a digital colleague, but has noticed that they lack direction when it comes to more complex documents. Jorn feels that LXA can play a clear role in this: linking legal quality to new working methods.
3. Guts – results-oriented and strategically sharp
The projects BEECKK is working on are becoming more complex. The Environment Act, nitrogen, the importance of a good participation process, pressure on space and social tension require partners with guts and strategic sharpness. Jorn expects LXA to increasingly take a position, contribute ideas at the level of administrative strategy and opt for solutions that are legally and socially sound.
Participation is an important tool for BEECKK and is becoming increasingly important from a legal perspective. You have to be able to demonstrate what has been achieved, how it has been weighed up and how general and individual interests relate to each other. Jorn sees this as an opportunity to work more closely together. BEECKK steers the process; LXA ensures legal sustainability. It is a natural partnership.
